Holiday Eating

I'm a health fanatic when it comes to eating, but I went on vacation for Thanksgiving. When I cook, I use organic ingredients, but my family members don't. I didn't eat a lot of sweets, but there were some foods I tasted that I cut out of my diet. I figured a little won't hurt. That's where I was wrong. When I returned home, I went to see my Natural Dr. and he said my sugar level was really high. I was really shocked. So, I know next time, not to do a taste test, but rather cook it my way.

Fall Fast!

Fall is a great time to cleanse the body and build up the immune system for the "Flu Season", as they say. During the summer, so many people are stuck on barbeque and eating out. The body does take a beating from being bomarded with a lot of foods that are not so healthy. It needs a rest and this is the perfect time. You can go on a modified food fast where you just eat all raws (fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains for two weeks or more), drink alkaline water while taking an intesinal cleanser to detox the body and rejuvinate you. So go forward and protect yourself from colds, flus or what have you. You will perform at "PEAK" levels when you do so.

The Beet Health Treat!

Beets are a unique source of phytonutrients called betalains that provide antioxidants, has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body and detoxification support. They contain powerful nutrient compounds that help protect against heart disease, birth defects and certain cancers, especially colon cancer. The lutein and zeaxanthin in beets are unique as health support molecules, particularly with respect to eye health and common age-related eye problems involving the macula and the retina. It is often difficult to believe how the hardy, crunchy, often rough-looking exterior of raw beets can be transformed into something wonderfully soft and buttery once they are cooked.

Eating While You Are Away From Home!

When you go away to big family functions, if you are health conscious, you hope there is something to accommodate you. My family had a big reunion in ATL on the weekend with special planned events and the meals included. Well, I wasn't surprised that there was a small selection for me to choose from during meal times. However, I was surprised that the selection was smaller than I thought it would be. So I had to weigh my options according to what the next best thing for me to make my meals complete. Trust me, it did have an effect on my body. I felt a difference in my energy level and mood among other things. So, I planned to go through a detox now that I'm home.

Eating the Right Foods Give You the Energy You Need!

Food is vital to giving us the energy we need to go throughout the day at peak performance. The type of food we eat during the course of the day is even more important. If we eat foods loaded with vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, enzymes and antioxidants we will create the energy we need and an attitude of liveliness. Accomplishing goals will be a breeze and done with much ease. It's better in the summer season to keep raw and living foods on your plate and less cooked foods. If you love to cook, sautee and lightly seem, to keep the nutritional value locked in. Drink at least 1/2 hour before and after you eat for proper absorption and digestion. By doing this, you will approach each day with high energy.

We Are What We Eat!

We are what we eat. Raw and live foods contain life, light-that divine spark of the creator within. We must feed ourselves of that which we are made. We are fields of energy that must have a battery to charge and recharge, giving us fuel to move. What's the fuel? It's our food. Food is what creates our mood. When we eat life, foods loaded with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, electrolytes, etc., we become full of energy, our thoughts are more focused and we can accomplish daily goals with ease. It's all in the full spectrum of the rainbow of our fruits and vegetables. Here's to life.

Vegetarian Pasta

My vegetarian pasta dish took less than 25 minutes to prepare. Instead of sauteing or baking my vegetables, I decided have them raw.
1. I used brown rice pasta; boiled it for 11 minutes and drained the water.
2. I added fresh tomato sauce with basil and other herbs and spices.
3. Then, I mixed in the raw vegetables chopped into small pieces and let it cook for less than five minutes. This doesn't alter the raw state of the vegetables, but use your preference. You can cook it a little long if you so desire.
It's done and ready to enjoy!
